WHISKEY IN A TEACUP

Creative Direction and Design

Creative Direction and Design

It’s cover reveal day!! I’ve been working on this book for a year and a half (CD and designer) and it’s so, so exciting seeing it come together! Such an incredible author and an amazing team on this one @reesewitherspoon @trishtodd718 @noahandlucylove @pthepaul @and.delight.reigned @tacohorton @angiemosier @minnielane @brittlitt @annielcampbell ・・・

Repost from @touchstonebooks It’s true y’all!!! We are beyond thrilled and honored to announce that we will be publishing Academy-award winning actress, producer, entrepreneur, and all-around legend @reesewitherspoon’s first book! Whiskey in a Teacup is going to be THE book to have, gift, and gram this Fall so you’re going to want to pre-order (maybe multiple copies?) right now at the link in bio or in our stories #whiskeyinateacup

A note from Reese: “My grandmother Dorothea always said that it was a combination of beauty and strength that made Southern women ‘whiskey in a teacup.’ We may be delicate and ornamental on the outside, she said, but inside we’re strong and fiery.

My Southern heritage informs my whole life, and spreading the gospel of southern living has become sort of an obsession of mine. I bring the South everywhere I go with bluegrass, big holiday parties, and plenty of Dorothea’s fried chicken. It’s reflected in how I entertain, decorate my home, and make holidays special for my kids—not to mention how I talk, dance, and do my hair (in these pages, you will learn my fail-proof, only slightly insane hot-roller technique). I love sharing Dorothea’s most delicious recipes as well as my favorite Southern traditions, from midnight barn parties to backyard bridal showers, magical Christmas mornings to rollicking honkytonks.

I hope you’ll see how easy it is for you to bring a little bit of the South to your home, no matter where you live. After all, there’s a Southern side to every place in the world, right?”

An Art Director just sent me this picture of George Clooney holding a book I designed! He’s pictured with co-authors Cecilia de mille Presley and Mark Vieira. The book is CECIL B. DeMILLE, published by Running Press. Mr. Clooney is reportedly set to receive the Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement award at the Golden Globes on January 11th.

A KITCHEN IN FRANCE listed as a Book of the Year!

A couple of years ago, I stumbled upon Mimi Thorisson’s blog Manger and was immediately taken with it. Mimi lives in Médoc, France, with her photographer husband Oddur and their gorgeous gaggle of children (7) and dogs (14). Her blog chronicles their culinary life and adventures, with recipes influenced by her Chinese and French heritage. What touched me about her cooking, is without saying “10 Minute Meals!” or “Easy Recipes!” she showed that oftentimes what I had previously considered to be complicated foods were actually quite simple to make.

Oddur’s accompanying photographs of the mouth-watering cuisine are deep and moody, and coupled with images of such a photogenic family and idyllic countryside, the results are nothing short of stunning. I knew it had to be a book, specifically, a Potter book. I sent it to a few friends at Clarkson Potter, my only caveat being if they pursued Mimi to write a book, I’d like to design it!

Here we are, nearing two years later, and A Kitchen in France is a big, wonderful book, and it was just listed as a Book of the Year by the Wall Street Journal. Congratulations Mimi! I’m so proud to have worked on it. xox
